Attempts to regroup SIMI activities alleged

Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Hyderabad city police in a meeting of 12th additional chief metropolitan judge has appealed for PT warrant to arrest Syed Afaq Iqbal alias Danish Riyaz, alleged member of Indian Mujahedeen, in yet another case.

SIT alleged in the application that Afaq Ibqal during his stay in Hyderabad had discussed re-establishment of SIMI activities with Maulana Mohammed Naseeruddin, president Andhra Pradesh Vehdat-e-Islami, Maulana Abdul Aleem Islahi of Jamiatul Banat Islahia and his son Motasim Billah at a gathering.

According to details SIT has sought permission to arrest Afaq Iqbal under draconian laws such as Prevention of Anti-National Activities Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. It must be recalled that SIT had shifted Afaq from Ahmadabad jail to Hyderabad last month, at PT warrant and had arrested him in fraud case registered in Abids police station.

It is suspected that SIT can also implicate Maulana Mohammed Naseeruddin, Maulana Abdul Aleem Islahi of Jamiatul Banat Islahia and Motasim Billah in cases registered under draconian laws.
