Attempts for protection of New Golconda Fort materialized

(Siasat News) Various organizations working in the field of protection of Archeological Monuments got an important success when the Direct of the Dept. of Archeology, Govt. of India. Reviewed the complaint lodged against the Hyderabad Golf Association for violating Archeological Monuments Act.

No action was been taken since the contractor is a relative of the Minister of Minorities Welfare, Govt. of A.P. For the past few days, social activist, Ms. Jaswine Jairath contacted the Director of Archeological Survey of India. He reacted sharply and sent an officer to Hyderabad to review the situation. Mr. Dayalal visited Hyderabad and examined the complaint in consultation with local organization. These organization pointed out various violations committed by Golf Association. In the beginning even the Central Govt. was not allowed to entered the premises of Golf Association. When the local officials informed them, then he was permitted entry. Others who wanted to enter the premises were not given permission. When the review team entered into the premises of fort, its door was kept locked. When it was ordered to open the door of the fort, it was known that the keys are with the private security guard. Mr. Dayalal inspected in detail in the inner portion of the fort and the efforts of Golf Association to bridge the ditch. He asked the office bearers of the Association about the permission given to them to erect electric poles near the Fort wall.

It is understood that Mr. Dayalal has given instructions to the office bearer of Hyderabad Golf Course to remove soil dumped into the ditches and to block five holes made for playing Golf. He also took a serious note of playing Golf near the fort and dumping the siol into the ditches to level the ground.

Ms. Anuradha of INTACH, Dr. Jaswine Jairath, Social Activist, Mr. Mohammed Afzal (Heritage Watch), Mr. Chakri and others were present on this occasion. It is reported that a detailed report will be submitted to the Director of Archeological Survey of India within a week.
