New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Saturday alleged that attempts are being made to “interfere” in Shariat laws through courts and appealed to the central government to maintain its earlier stand on the matter.
AIMPLB member Zafar Jinali, after the board meeting, alleged court “interference” in Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Application Act. His remarks came weeks after the Supreme Court sought the Centre’s response in a plea challenging the constitutionality of Muslim practices of polygamy, triple talaq (talaq-e-bidat) and nikah halala.
Jinali said AIMPLB has appealed to the government to ensure that there was no interference in Shariat laws.
