Attempts to dislodge Urdu from Urdu University

Former Chairman of A.P. Urdu Academy and TRS In charge of Nampally Assembly Constituency, Mr. Raheemullah Khan Niyazi, in a press statement issued yesterday lamented that it is regrettable that attempts are being made to dislodge Urdu from Maulana Azad National Urdu University. It may be noted that Maulana Azad National Urdu University was established by an act of Parliament to promote Urdu language in higher professional and technical education and also to promote Urdu Language and Literature. Urdu University has been closing down all the ways and means for promotion of Urdu Language and by doing so, it is posing danger to its very existence.

Mr. Niyazi heavily criticized the irregularities and nepotism by Urdu University. He told that Urdu University has been in captions of the newspapers for its irregularities. The University Authorities have made an organized attempt to dismantle the basic structure of Urdu medium of instruction. In implementing their evil designs, the University authorities started appointing non-Urdu knowing teachers under the pretext that Urdu knowing teachers are not available and that they are trying to make qualitative changes in the teaching and learing situation in the Dept. of Education.

Whenever University authorities resort to such illegal actions, the Urdu lovers of the Indian Sub-continent make attempts to attract the attention of media by making representations and by organizing public meetings, dharnas and processions but due to the patronage of anti-Urdu bosses sitting in New Delhi, the efforts of Urdu loving people are not meeting with success.

It may not be out of place to mention that the University authorities have taken this decision without consulting Academic Council and Executive Council. The University authority are not authorized to change the clauses of the mandate of the University which is totally illegal. It is very surprising that there are thousands of Urdu Medium schools in the country and there are a number of schools where Urdu is taught as one of the subjects. It is very surprising that the University is finding it difficult to get Urdu knowing candidates. It has become impossible for the University to get competent candidates which is totally untrue.

Mr. Raheemullah Khan Niyazi, at the end of his press statement told that it is the opportune time for the lovers of Urdu to raise their voice with full strength and to decide the fate of Urdu University forever.
