Hyderabad, April 18: Leaders of all parties strongly opposed the attempt to hand over the Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) at Bibi Nagar (Nalgonda district) to private sector and demanded vehemently to withdraw from any such attempt or proposal. A delegation of all party leaders called on Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy and discussed the matter in detail.
The delegation also submitted a memorandum to ensure the development of NIMS University and demanded to withdraw from any attempt to privatize it.
The all-party leaders have brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that the NIMS premises at Bibinagar was hurriedly inaugurated by then chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on the eve of elections even before completion of building works. They also complained to the Chief Minister that the works of Outpatient Block remained incomplete even after two years.
Recalling that the RIMS in Kadapa and NIMS in Nalgonda were declared open on the same day, they pointed out that while the works of RIMS were completed already, while those of NIMS were abandoned for the reasons best known to the government.
The delegation reacted strongly and made it clear to the chief minister that neglect of NIMS works by the government was nothing but regional discrimination.
The Telugu Desam party senior leaders, Ms Uma Madhava Reddy, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, the TRS leader, Mr Jagadeeshwar Reddy were among those who met the Chief Minister.
