Attacks on Muslim youth were acts of robbery: Police

Hyderabad, December 23 (INN): The City Police on Thursday claimed that the recent incidents of attack on youth belonging to minority community were not communal in nature, but were cases of robbery.

The police came to this conclusion after it arrested two persons who were allegedly involved in these cases. The accused Hassan Bharakbha, 26, and Mohd Bin Sayeed Kesari, 20, both residents of Barkas, were arrested by the Task Force and a team led by Santoshnagar police station inspector B Sudershan Reddy. The police recovered one Maruti Zen LX AC car, one Bajaj pulsar motorcycle, one mobile phone and a knife from their possession.

Both the accused are habitual offenders and were involved in multiple cases of theft.

Police said that in the first week of December, Hassan Bharakbha committed theft of Maruthi Zen LX Ac car bearing No AP 11 AC 3336, near Mandhar Hotel at Towli chowki and used the same till petrol exhausted and parked vehicle near his house. On Dec 7, he committed theft of Bajaj pulsar bearing AP-13 S 0241 in the Langar Houz police limits.

On December 18, using stolen Bajaj pulsar Hassan, Kesari along with another unidentified person chased Mohammed Owais, a resident of Madannapet, who was going on his motor cycle. When Owais reached opposite to DRDL bus stop Rakshapuram X Road, they stopped his motor cycle and stabbed him on left thigh and robbed his cell phone and all the three fled away on the same motor cycle.

The City police said that both the accused belongs to below poverty line families and commits offences to live a luxurious life.

DCP South Zone Manish Kumar Sinha has requested the people not to believe the rumours of stabbings on minorities and also requested them not to spread such rumours. Most of the incidents are happening due to this type of respondents, he said. (INN)
