New Delhi, November 17: The security forces on Thursday foiled an attack on BJP veteran LK Advani, who is currently touring Chandigarh as part of his Jan Chetna Yatra to highlight the issue of corruption.
As reported in a news channel, the unidentified attacker has been held by the security forces on guard to protect Advani and is being taken for further questioning.
The BJP leader is safe and is expected to leave shortly for Ambala.
Ahead of commencing his Jan Chetna Yatra from October 11, the intelligence agencies have issued a warning of a possible terror threat to BJP leader LK Advani.
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) warned of major lapses in the security cover provided to Advani.
The IB report said that there were major departures from the set norms in the liaison between the organisers and the security establishments and expressed its concerns over the way people were being allowed to meet Advani without proper checks and frisking.
The former deputy prime minister is on a 38-day-long nationwide yatra to highlight the issue of corruption.
A crude pipe-bomb was recently recovered when Advani, who has the highest “Z-plus” category security, was on his way to Srivilliputhur via Tirumangalam to address a public meeting.
