ATS inspector injured by bullet during mock drill

Surat, February 24: An Inspector of Gujarat’s Anti- Terrorism Squad (ATS) received bullet injury during a mock drill at the airport here today, police said.

S M Sayyed was hit by a bullet during the drill conducted jointly by the ATS and the city police, they said.

ATS chief Ajay Tomar said Sayyed’s condition was stable and he was under observation at the Mission Hospital.

“It was an unfortunate accident,” he added.

Top officials, including Police Commissioner Shivanand Jha, Tomar and DCP (crime) Subhash Trivedi, visited the Inspector in the hospital, sources said.

The drill was conducted to increase preparedness of the police to deal with any possible terror attack or other emergency situations, they said.
