Atrocities on women: Social activist Sangeeta Gupta holds society responsible

Hyderabad: Noted Social Activists and former Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Ms. Sangeeta Gupta who is also a poetess, artist and a film maker lamented that women are being subjected to atrocities since the society does not follow our great values.

She was talking to press reporter of Siasat Urdu Daily on 27th August. She felt sorry that on the basis of religion, communal elements are resorting to intolerance. She condemned the incidents of mob lynching. She said that the confidence of the public has ceased on the system.

Domestic violence cannot be eradicated only by enacting laws. The entire mindset of the society has to undergo a drastic change. It is the responsibility of Civil Society to create awareness to end hatred.

She hoped that the future of Urdu is bright and it is the responsibility of Urdu speakers to preserve this language without depending on the Govt.

It may be mentioned that her art exhibits were displayed in an exhibition held at Lahore and the album containing her poems was released by no less a person that former President of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf himself.

She proposed that cultural exchange between India and Pakistan will improve bilateral relations.

After serving Income Tax Dept. for 40 years, she started concentrating on social activities. During the tenure of her office, she could not resist the temptation of composing poems.
