Members of Movement for Peace and Justice (MPJ) on Saturday staged a demonstration at Indira Park here protesting against atrocities against innocent Muslim youth in the capital.
Raising slogans denouncing the high-handed behaviour of the police, they alleged that the police were foisting false cases against the youth. Policemen in plain clothes were conducting raids at the houses of youngsters during midnight without a search warrant and harassing family members, said MPJ president Hamid Mohammed Khan.
He demanded that the government take action against officials who were resorting to such acts. He requested the government to announce an ex-gratia of Rs.10 lakh to the family of a car driver, Syed Ghouse, who died due to police harassment near his house at Gandhinagar in Malakpet and a job to one of his family members.
