London: Striker Antoine Griezmann scored a decisive goal as Atletico Madrid progressed through to the finals of the Champions League despite suffering a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in their second leg of the semifinals clash at Allianz Arena.
Atletico Madrid advanced to their second summit showdown in three years after completing a 2-2 aggregate against Bayern.
Bayern, who were trailing 0-1 from the first leg, leveled the score through midfielder Xabi Alonso in the 31st minute before Atletico forward Antoine Griezmann netted an away goal in the 54th minute to put his side in the driver’s seat.
Robert Lewandowski handed a victory to Bayern by his 74th-minute header, but that was not enough for the hosts to guide them into the finals.
Atletico will now lock horns with either Real Madrid or Manchester City on May 29 for the Champions League glory. (ANI)
