Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s condition still critical

New Delhi: Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s condition continues to remain critical, All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) said in its latest health bulletin on Thursday.

“Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s condition continues to remain the same. He is critical and on life support systems,” read a hospital statement.

Vajpayee, whose health condition deteriorated on Wednesday, was put on life support system. Earlier today, scores of political leaders including Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Home Minister Rajnath Singh”>Rajnath Singh, BJP president Amit Shah, senior BJP leader LK Advani and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj reached the hospital to enquire about his health.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are also expected to visit AIIMS later in the day.

The 93-year-old veteran leader was admitted to AIIMS on June 11 after complaints of urinary tract infection, low urine output, and chest congestion.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also went to AIIMS to meet ailing Vajpayee. (ANI)
