Expressing delight over her father Lal Krishna Advani and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee being honoured with the Padma Vibhushan and Bharat Ratna awards respectively in the same year, Pratibha Advani on Monday said that their team in the politics of this country would always be remembered.
“I have seen them both working together as a team and it’s always talked about that Atal-Advani team in the politics of the country will always be remembered. I am happy that both got it together in the same year,” she told ANI.
“We are very happy we all as a family were there to see this great day and we are honoured and we want to salute our national flag as I have always seen my father having tears in his eyes whenever he has saluted the national flag. I am very honoured and feel very happy to be his daughter,” she added.
Noted educationist and freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malviya was on Monday posthumously conferred the Bharat Ratna , country’s highest civilian award, by President Pranab Mukherjee.
Other personalities who were awarded today included, besides L. K. Advani, Punjab Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Parkash Singh Badal. They were honoured with the Padma awards by President Mukherjee at a glittering ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan here. (ANI)
