Assembly to have a press conference hall

Hyderabad, January 04: An all-party meeting held by Assembly deputy speaker N Manohar held here today agreed to the proposal that a permanent media conference hall be constructed on the Assembly premises with sophisticated public address system. Some leaders, however, wanted the hall to come up at the MLA Quarters.

It was also decided to impose a ban on holding of dharnas and hunger strikes on the premises of MLA Quarters.

Those who attended the meeting included TDP whip D Narendra Kumar, government whips K Murali Mohan, N Sivarami Reddy, TRS member K Eshwar and BJP leader G Kishan Reddy.

They urged the deputy speaker to provide identity cards to mediapersons covering press conferences of Assembly members apart from Assembly sessions. They did not favour Manohar’s proposal to impose restrictions on the entry of visitors and, instead, wanted the Assembly security be strengthened. They, however, agreed to the proposal for imposing restrictions on those who were not Assembly members to address the media on the Assembly premises.
