Assembly disrupted over adjournment motions

Hyderabad, August 21: Assembly proceedings were stalled once again today by Opposition members who insisted that issues raised they wanted to raise by adjournment motions be taken up for discussion.

As members of the TDP, TRS and CPM persisted with their demand and ignored his appeals for cooperation, Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy abruptly adjourned the House for 10 minutes just within 10 minutes of the commencement of the session.

As soon as the House met for the day, the Speaker announced rejection of the notices for adjournment motions and suggested to the members concerned to raise those issues during the debate on the budget demands and drought.
However, TDP, TRS and CPM members demanded an immediate discussion on release of Krishna river water from Nagarjunasagar into the right canal and release of water from the Srisailam left bank canal (SLBC) into the Alimineti Madhava Reddy (AMR) reservoir in Nalgonda for drinking water purpose.

Improvement of the drainage system in the Old City of Hyderabad (by MIM), filling the posts of teachers in aided schools (BJP) and measures to check adulterated toddy (CPI) were among the issues raised under the adjournment motions.

When the House reassembled at about 9 am, the Speaker renewed his appeal to the members to raise the issues during the debate on the budget demands, and took up the Question Hour.
