Assembly Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy has demanded 50 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislatures. “Dream for women empowerment will not come true, unless and until everyone in the society joins hands and work towards it”, she said, while speaking on international women’s day celebrations held at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday.
The injustice against women in the society will halt only if girls will be empowered in all sectors of life.
Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy on Sunday made an enthusiastic appeal to the women in the State to protect their girls. “Let us eradicate feticide, let the girl children live and let the society help them grow and develop and compete at all levels”, she stated.
Padma said the TRS Government would come up with suitable law to protect the girl child from being killed before they are born. “The women should not indulge in killing the girl-child in the womb”. There is dire need for protecting the girl children which is of paramount importance for maintaining balance between male and female ratio at the national level, she stated.
