Assembly adjourned on ‘ corruption’ issue

Even as the BAC meeting convened by the Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar with all the floor leaders of respective parties this afternoon remained inconclusive, the House after it assembled for the day was adjourned for 15 minutes on the ‘Corruption’ issue following the TDP members demanded the ousting of six cabinet ministers on whom the Supreme Court had ordered to serve notices in the YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s disproportionate assets case. Earlier, the Speaker had announced of disallowing the adjournment motions for which notices were given by TRS, left parties, BJP, MIM and TDP on different issues including a detailed debate on Corruption since 1995.

Thereafter the TDP members D Narendra and P Kesavulu asked Mr Manohar to allow a full-scale debate on Corruption which was strongly supported by the MIM due to the government agreeing for a debate on the issue. The Speaker also said that he would call for a meeting with the floor leaders to sort out the issue and requested the members to allow the business of the house listed for the day.

As soon as the first question in the question hour was read by Major Industries Minister Dr J Geeta Reddy, the house turned into pandemonium with the TRS, TDP and MIM members immediately mobbed the poidum by raising full-throated slogans on their demands which forced the Chair to adjourn the house for 15 minutes.
