Assault on couple:Dalit unions threaten stir before Malkajgiri PS

AP Dalitha Hakkula Porata Samithi has demanded that the State government take severe action against the Malkajgiri police officials and an alleged rowdy-sheet Koteshwara Rao for misbehaving and assaulting a poor housewife.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, Dalitha Hakkula Porata Samithi president Renukuntla Yellaiah alleged that Koteshwara Rao had abused one Kanugula Radhika and her husband Kanugula Srinivas in filthy language and belaboured them indiscriminately on January 17 for merely questioning about a bike parked in front of her house in Maruthi Nagar under Malkajgiri police limits. The Dalit leader alleged that the Malkajgiri police were acting in favor of the culprit when the couple lodged a complaint with them for taking action.

Satish Mahajan, ‘Dhwani’ Mahila Hakkula Porata Samithi president Anjali Khader, Dalitha Mahila Samkshema Sangham leader Anita Prasad, Shanti Vikalangula Vayovruddula Vithanthuvula Mahila Sangham leader Ganti Bramarambha, who were present also demanded that the government get the case inquired by the CID and render justice, otherwise, all the organizations would launch agitation in front of the police station.

Radhika, who sells pottery items in front of her house, alleged when she asked about a bike parked in front of her house, Koteshwar Rao came out of his house and started abusing her in filthy language. She said as her husband was away on duty, she went to the Malkajgiri police station and lodged a complaint against the culprit. She had also apprised her husband about the incident on telephone.

Radhika alleged that when she returned from the police station, Koteshwar Rao, caught her by hair and started inflicting blows on her chest and private parts causing grievous injuries on her hands. She also alleged that as soon her husband returned home, Koteshwar Rao thrashed Srinivas indiscriminately causing injuries on his head.
The couple also alleged that the police were not only shielding the culprit but also frightening them by foisting a case under non-bailable offence. They also alleged that Koteshwar Rao was threatening to kill the couple any day.
