Even as the situation in Assam continues to be tense and sporadic incidents of violence are being reported from different parts of the state, the army has been deployed in the Baksa district, the latest flashpoint of the riot-hit state.
In a more recent incident at Tamalpur a car was set ablaze by a mob while a bus was torched by another group. The situation seems to be going out of control of the police as fresh reports of similar unrest are coming in from Kamrup district.
The communal riots have claimed over 70 lives so far during the past one month. The Army was called in to aid the central paramilitary forces and the police in their efforts to quell violence.
