Assam: Mob attack man on suspicions of cattle theft

GUWAHATI: Three people have been arrested and detained a minor for their alleged involvement in attacking a man on suspicions of cattle theft in Assam’s Darrang district, on Sunday evening.

According to Times of India reports, the suspects were sent to judicial custody on Monday.

The mob used sticks and rods to attack the victim identified as Zakir Hussain on suspicion of cow theft. The mob roughed up with the policemen and other people who tried to rescue the man from the attack.

The video footage of the assault was recorded in onlookers mobile phones. Police have registered
under charges of rioting, assaulting a public servant and attempt to murder.
