Assam: Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind demands transfer of NRS case to bench of Justice Ranjan Gogoi

New Delhi: The cases regarding National Register of Citizens (NRS) and Doubtful voter (D Voter) are being heard by separate benches in Supreme Court. The cases have been postponed for next hearing. However, during the hearing on Monday, Jamiat Ulama demanded that the NRC case is also handed over to the bench of Justice Ranjan Gogoi where the D voters’ case is already being heard. However, the final decision will be taken by the chief justice.

It must be noted that justice Rajan Gogoi bench had set aside the order of the Gauhati High Court and had given the judgement in favour of people. Hence Jamiat Ulama and the stakeholders hope that if the case is handed over to the bench of Ranjan Gogoi the judgement would be fair.
