Assam Governor, died

New Delhi, Jun 26 (UNI) Assam Governor Shiv Charan Mathur died following heart failure at a hospital here, officials said. He was 83. An Assam government spokesperson said Mathur died at the Fortis Hospital at 2015 hrs, following respiratory failure. He said, ”The Governor complained of respiratory trouble in the evening and was shifted to the Fortis Hospital and he passed away soon after.”

Mathur fell sick earlier this month and was shifted to Escorts Hospital in New Delhi on June 18. He was discharged from there this morning and was at his residence here when he felt uneasiness and was admitted to Fortis Hospital. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.

He took over as Assam Governor in July last year and has been two-time former Rajasthan Chief Minister.
