Aspirants for Assemly poll stake claim before Cong observer

Amravati, August 24: Congress aspirants for the Assembly polls staked their claims before party observer and AICC Secretary, Mohan Prakash, amidst slogan shouting by their supporters at two different venues on Monday.

While Guardian Minister Sunil Deshmukh and other important leaders of the party in the district participated in one programme held at Rangoli Lawns, President Pratibha Patil’s son, Raosaheb Shekhawat, arranged a different party convention to present his claim for candidature before the party observer.

A party activists’ convention was held at Rangoli lawns wherein all aspiring Congress leaders from rural parts of the district along with Guardian Minister Sunil Deshmukh participated.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohan Prakash told that All India Congress Committee wanted to know what was the organisational set up of the party ahead of Assembly elections in the state.

Through such conventions, the AICC would find out whether to contest elections in alliance with others or on its own strength. “We will take opinions of office-bearers in the party as well as various Congress members of local bodies,” he said. .
