ASP disappears, new twist to IPS officers row

The East Godavari IPS officers row has taken a new twist today with the controversial Rampachodavaram ASP Naveen Kumar suddenly disappearing from his brother’s house and family members alleging that he was kidnapped by the Superintendent of Police.

Though the government has suspended him for violation of service rules, technically he was still on duty as the suspension orders are yet to be served on him. The ASP along with his family members came to Rajahmundry around noon to his elder brother’s’house.

When a special team, led byAR DSP Ashok kumar along with an SI deputed by the DIG Eluru Range, came to serve the suspension orders on him, the family members told them that he was, a little while ago, taken by some police constables in a car telling that the Rajahmundry Urban SP wanted him. They tried to contact the ASP but found his mobile was switched off. The family members later told media persons that the ASP was kidnapped by the SP and there was every danger to his life.

The sudden development gave strength to the ASP’s charge as he has already approached the Human Rights Commission that there was threat to his life from the SP and sought protection.

Since, the incident took place in Rajahmundry, the Urban District Police are now on the lookout for him.

Meanwhile, Rohit, younger brother of Naveen Kumar, warned that the police alone have to be held responsible if anything untoward happens to the ASP. UNI
