Jakarta: The Indian Women’s Hockey Team on Tuesday obliterated Kazakhstan in their second Pool B match, registering a 21-0 score to win their second consecutive match at the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games here.
The World No. 9 Indian team exhibited their superiority over the minnows with a dominant performance, with Gurjit Kaur (7′, 36′, 44′, 52′), Lalremsiami (9′, 19′, 30′), Navneet Kaur (11′, 12′, 49′), Vandana Katariya (29′, 37′, 53′), Navjot Kaur (16′, 54′), Lilima Minz (38′, 44′), Neha Goyal (10′), Udita (34′), Deep Grace Ekka (43′) and Monika (55′) scoring the goals in the Indian team’s second-biggest victory of the Asian Games.
The match as a contest was over within the first ten minutes as India put three past Kazakh goalkeeper, with one goal coming from a Penalty Corner (PC). The Indians were scoring with almost every attempt and made it 9-0 by the end of the second quarter.
However, the 1982 Asian Games champions were far from done and continued inflicting misery upon the Kazakhs and added seven more goals in the third quarter and picked up from where they left in the final quarter to finish the match with a mind-boggling 21-0 scoreline.
The Indian Women’s Hockey Team will play their third Pool B match against South Korea on Saturday, August 25.
The Indian Men’s Hockey Team will also be in action as they play their second match of the against Hong Kong, China on Wednesday, August 22.
