Jakarta: India on Tuesday settled for a silver medal after a thrilling final against Korea in Women’s Compound Archery Team event of the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games.
The national side narrowly missed the yellow metal as they finished three points behind the winning team Korea with a final scoreline being 231-228.
After clinching the first set 59-57, the Indian side slumped to a 56-58 defeat in the second set.
The third set indicated towards a thrilling final as both the teams finished in an equal score of 58-58.
In an exciting final set, India needed 10 crucial points to keep their gold medal hopes alive but as archers Muskan Kirar and Madhumita Kumari missed their respective marks, the national side had to be content with the second position on the podium after finishing with a score of 55-58.
In athletics, India’s Hima Das and Dutee Chand qualified for Women’s 200m semi-final with a clock timing of 23.47 and 23.37, respectively.
India’s total medal tally at the prestigious tournament now stands at 42- eight gold, fourteen silver and twenty bronze.
