GMR realized this potential and has collaborated with Asia Pacific Flight Training (APFT) Sdn Bhd, Malaysia as its technical partner to start APFT India. APFT Malaysia is the Largest Pilot training academy in South East Asia and is based out of Kota Bahru in Malaysia.
Asia Pacific Flight Training Academy Limited (APFTAL), a group company of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) is located in the GMR Airport Campus. APFTAL offers its flagship course namely the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) which is an 18 months long, residential course. Criterion for enrolment to the CPL course includes a minimum age of 18 years with a basic education qualification of 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics and English. Students are chosen based on merit through an entrance procedure and subject to clearance of statutory medical tests as per DGCA guidelines. Each CPL batch has a maximum of only 30 seats.
APFTAL also offers Private Pilot Licence (PPL), which essentially is for people seeking hobby flying for personal interest. Apart from these two courses, APFT India also offers Flight/ Asst. Flight Instructor Rating (A); Multi Engine Rating (MER); Instrument Rating (IR) courses.
Flight training is provided on state of the art DIAMOND DA40D, single engine piston and DA 42, twin engine piston, glass cockpit aircraft. APFTAL has a team of highly experienced flight and ground instructors. The training infrastructure is of highest standards. A team of skilled maintenance personnel will ensure that the trainees have the safest environment for flying training.
APFTAL is the only Flying Training Institute in the country to have its training activities carried out from an operational international airport.
