ICC to introduce a new provision in this year’s Asia cup tournament

Asia Cup 2018 to have Super Over in order to determine the winner of the match. However, this will be played only if a match ends up in a tie. This will be the first time the Asia Cup will be played with the Super Over provision.

The Super Over system is used in knockouts of ICC’s 50-over tournaments. Initially, Super Over or the ‘one-over eliminator’ is used for T20 Internationals. Six balls are bowled with each side having two wickets. The Super Over determines the winner of the match when the match is tied.
The tournament will start on September 15 while the final of the tournament will be played on September 28. All the matches will start at 5:00 PM IST.
