New Delhi, December 07: A portion of a dargah, illegally constructed, near the Feroz Shah Kotla in central Delhi was today demolished by Archaeological Survey of India following a court order.
ASI authorities along with police went to the dargah premises in the morning and demolished the illegal structure, officials said.
The Delhi High Court had recently given the go-ahead for the ASI to demolish the structure, which was built adjacent to the dargah near the centrally-protected monument.
The demolished portion was used by the dargah authorities for other activities of the worship place like holding kawalis and other such things, Superintending Archaeologist (Delhi) K K Mohammad said.
“The dargah authorities also cooperated with us since the court ordered that the structure was built illegally,” he said.
Though the High Court had given the go-ahead some time back, ASI was persuading the dargah authorities to demolish the structure.
