Aseemanand acquitted, Yakub gets life

Panchkula: A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Wednesday acquitted four people, including main accused Swami Aseemanand, in the 2007 Samjhauta train bombing case. The other 3 who are acquitted in the case are Lokesh Sharma, Kamal Chauhan and Rajender Chaudhry. 68 people had died and 12 were injured in Samjhauta Express blast. Those who died in the blasts aboard the India-Pakistan train were mostly Pakistani nationals.

RSS pracharak Swami Aseemanand walked out of Panchkula Court on Wednesday giving out a loud chant of ‘Jai Sri Ram’.

On the other side, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) court on Wednesday awarded life imprisonment to Yakub Patalia in the Godhra train carnage case of 2002 in which 59 people were charred to death.
