MIM Chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi expressed his readiness to take on Congress MP and former Indian cricket captain Mohd. Azharuddin in the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency in the next elections.
In an interview to an English daily, he said it was not he who selects the candidates of other parties and any one has a right to contest against him in a democracy. He said he had no objection if Azharuddin contested against him and said he was ready to take him on.
It may be recalled that when the AP High Court cleared Azharuddin of the match-fixing charges, Asad immediately expressed solidarity with him. He welcomed the court’s decision.
On Saturday when Azharuddin met the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy at Delhi, it is learnt the Chief Minister invited him to come to Andhra Pradesh politics. It was also said that Azhar showed interest in contesting from Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat. Speaking to the media later, Azhar also said if the Congress High Command directed him, he would contest from Hyderabad.
