AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi today called on Chief Minister in waiting K Chandrasekhara Rao at latter’s residence.
Accompanied by his younger brother Akabaruddin, Asad made some suggestions to KCR on water, power and drainage issues in Telangana Capital Hyderabad.
Later talking to media persons, Asad said he urged KCR to incorporate a logo of “Charminar in Telangana State Government emblem. “We are not willing to join KCR cabinet but together work for development of the State and Hyderabad. We are also seeking a Rs 1,000 package for new drainage lines and waiver of pending electricity bills in old city”. Asad, who politely denied to join KCR Cabinet, said they have submitted a memorandum to KCR comprising some suggestions to address the issues. Though reluctant to take two berths said to have been offered by the TRS, Asad is likely to press KCR for taking over the reins of GHMC, which was under MIM clutches. To this, the Chief Minister in waiting and his team is just ready besides implementing 12 per cent of reservations for Muslim Minorities in employment and education.
Asaduddin, who has been re-elected as Hyderabad MP for the third consecutive time, termed the meeting positive. He hoped that under KCR’s leadership Telangana would become number one state in the country. “I am sure Hyderabad will definitely emerge as a place which is secure and the infrastructure issues which are there will be addressed,” Asad said.
The MIM leaders also urged the TRS chief to declare Urdu as the official language and wanted the Telangana government to take all steps to protect the lives and property of the minorities. The MIM and TRS leaders also believed to have discussed electoral alliance between the two parties for the coming elections to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
The meeting took place two days after some TRS leaders met Owaisi brothers, seeking MIM support to the government. (NSS)
