Arya Vysyas look to CM for propulsion

Vijaywada, November 21: The Arya Vysya Maha Sammelan to be held at Swaraj Maidan here tomorrow, will focus on greater political representation to Arya Vysyas, according to invitation committee chairman Srighakollapu Sivaramasubrahmanyam and convener and Vijayawada West MLA Vellampalli Srinivas.

Speaking to newsmen here today, they said chief minister K Rosaiah would attend the convention as the chief guest.

There are over 70 lakh Arya Vysyas in the state. But they do not have adequate representation in legislative bodies. The meeting will chalk out the course of action to be followed to get adequate political representation for Arya Vysyas in the ensuing elections to local bodies, they said.

Arya Vysya Mahasabha was held in Vijayawada in 1977. The present chief minister K Rosaiah presided over the meeting. The success of tomorrow’s Arya Vysya Maha Sammelan will send a message to political parties the need to recognise the strength and unity of the community in allotment of party tickets for civic elections, they said.

Over three lakh Arya Vysyas are expected to attend the Sammelan, which will adopt resolutions urging political parties to give them adequate representation.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the Sammelan to ensure its success.

The venue of the Sammelan has been decorated with welcome arches.
