Arvind crashes out of Dutch International tourney

New Delhi, April 11: Indian shuttler Arvind Bhatt played his heart out before going down to fifth seed Scott Evans in a marathon three-game quarterfinal of the Dutch International badminton tournament.

The second seed Indian lost 21-23 28-26 15-21 to Evans in a one-hour-and-four-minutes encounter yesterday.

The Bangalorean had earlier qualified for the final-eight round by beating Jakub Bitman and qualifier Marco de Jager respectively in the last two rounds.

Arvind had decided to skip the All England and Swiss Open to recover from an ankle injury, sustained during the recent Thomas Cup Asia zone qualifiers in Thailand.

The strapping Indian has been seeded 16th in the Asian Badminton Championship starting at the newly-built Siri Fort Stadium, venue of the October 3-14 Commonwealth Games, here tomorrow.
