Arvind asks GHMC engineers to complete road maintenance works by October end

Hyderabad: Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar has asked the GHMC engineers to ensure that all the preventive periodical maintenance works are completed at the earliest. All the works relating to footpath laying, road widening and laying of cement concrete roads should be expedited without compromising on quality, he added.

Arvind Kumar today held a meeting with the GHMC officials of Khairatabad circle office and took stock of the progress achieved in the various works taken up. He said all the works should be completed by the end of October. He said while laying BT roads and recarpeting should be done after monsoon, the process of calling tenders and issuing of letter of award should be completed during the monsoon period, he added.

He also asked the assistant engineers, who are on the field, should necessarily wear the jacket. He asked the engineers to conduct a meeting with the ward members and the members of resident welfare association and have a quick feedback to find out whether any work relating to emergency restoration work was missing from the list identified by the officials. All the works identified by the officials and also the works relating to repairs and patch works suggested by the resident welfare associations should be taken up immediately. The pictures of the works before and after completion of the work should be posted on twitter. He observed that the social media should be used as a tool to highlight the positive works done by the engineers. He instructed the engineers to work closely with the people so that all their genuine grievances are addressed.

GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy, Additional Commissioner Bharati Holikeri and Chief Engineer Ziauddin were present. Earlier, the Principal secretary planted a sapling in the zonal office. (NSS)
