Itanagar: A rain-triggered landslide on Tuesday has created havoc in the affected region. Fourteen people are feared dead in Arunachal Pradesh’s Papum Pare district, while others are trapped in the debris, a senior official said.
HT reports, additional deputy commissioner Jalash Pertin has said the chances of the survivors are bleak. The rescue operation is taking place, five houses were washed away in a village in the district at 3:30 PM.
The district has been receiving incessant rains for the past four days, which has reportedly caused the landslide. Various other parts also were affected by landslides as well as the flash floods in the past few days.
Major rivers in the state are flowing above the danger level while surface communication was disrupted at many places along the NH-415 that links Assam with Arunachal Pradesh, officials had said on Monday.
