Aruna Wins: APCOB Post Goes To Telangana

Minister D K Aruna finally succeeded in getting the APCOB chairman post to Telangana. Veera Reddy of Mahabubnagar got the post because of the lobbying of Aruna.

Initially Congress selected Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao of Krishna district for the post. But Telangana ministers led by Aruna insisted on Telangana getting the post in view of the strong sentiments. Then Aruna strongly lobbied for Veera Reddy and got him the post.

As other Telangana ministers wanted the post to be given to Ravindra Rao of Karimnagar, Congress leadership decided to give the post to each of them for two-and-a-half years.

Speaking to the media, minister Parthasarathy said the names of Veera Reddy and Ravindra Rao were supported by all. He said the names were decoded after discussions with all concerned. He said the election of the vice chairman would be held on the first day of the meeting of APCOB. He also said that Veera Reddy was elected unanimously though it was initially thought to give the post to Krishna district.

Aruna said she was thankful that her district leader was selected for the APCOB post. Veera Reddy while thanking the party for keeping confidence on him, assured that he would strive both for the party and the farmer.(NSS)
