Information and Public relations minister D K Aruna has lambasted her political adversary Jupalli Krishna Rao (now TRS MLA) and Nagam Janardana Reddy (Independent MLA), for suddenly expressing love for the farmers of Mahabubnagar district.
The two members have staged a dharna at the chambers of minister fopr Major Irrigation P Sudarshan Reddy in the premises of the Legislative Assembly protesting against diversion of water due to Mahabubnagar from the RDS project to Kurnool district. The two members had addressed the media at the media point, claiming success in their mission and stating that the minister had conceded their demand of release of water to Mahabubnagar.
The minister from the same Mahabubnagar district as the two, has said that the government was ready to save crops in agriculture lands under RDS. She said opposition parties were unnecessarily making this a big issue. She said that some persons were making unnecessary allegations against her for political gain. She said she had already directed officials to release RDS water to Mahabubnagar. She said apart from quota, all the water required by farmers would be released. She has sarcastically said that some persons had suddenly developed love for farmers under the RDS project. Meaning Nagam and Jupalli she said she was happy that they developed interest on the farmers at least now.
She has questioned Jupalli why he had never thought of RDS water when he was a minister in the Congress government. She said she was unable to decide whether to laugh or weep, looking at those who were fighting for their own personal agenda. She said the two that it was improper for them to use the Telangana issue for their own political existence.
She has advised them not to play with the lives of people for their own political survival. She said these leaders were trying to get political benefit by inciting people on different issues. Stating that every leader in Telangana was craving for the new state, Aruna has reminded that they were all mounting pressure on the Congress leadership to concede Telangana. She said all those fighting for Telangana should state how many of them were fighting with commitment.
She has also asked if these so called Telangana protagonists were putting shoulder to shoulder with others to achieve Telangana. Speaking to the media earlier, Jupalli has sarcastically said that while power and positions were important to some, Telangana was important to him. Jupalli who has quit minister’s post for Telangana has said for all the problems faced by the people of the region, Telangana state was the only answer. (NSS)
