Congress legislator D K Aruna came close to being suspended from the Assembly on Tuesday. While Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao wanted to suspend the Congress legislator from the business of the House for reportedly saying that cultureless were running the House. However, deputy speaker Padma Devendar Reddy did not allow Harish Rao to move the motion and went on to continue the proceedings.
The incident took place when Congress leaders were walking out of the House, alleging that their member was not allowed to speak. It was then D K Aruna reportedly said that cultureless were running the House. Legislative Affairs minister Harish Rao and government whip G Sunita demanded unconditional apology from the member, stating that the comment humiliated the House and the Chair.
Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy said that it would be better to leave the issue as D K Aruna was emotional and sometimes tongue slip may take place in a fit of rage. He said that the member did not intend to hurt anyone.
