Bhopal: Former president of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Arun Yadav on Friday defended Congress leader Kamal Nath for inviting party chief Rahul Gandhi in the death anniversary of his father and OBC leader to address the public ahead of the state elections.
Nath, in a letter, asked Congress president to attend the death anniversary of Subhash Yadav, who was deputy chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and use the occasion as a platform to address the gathering of people, who would come to pay their respect to him.
Speaking over the matter, Arun said, “Yes I invited Rahul ji for my father’s death anniversary program. I asked Kamal Nath ji to convey the news. What is wrong in saying area has OBC population? If Rahul ji comes then there will be activity in the region,” Arun told ANI.
In his letter, Nath said “Madhya Pradesh has a huge OBC population and it is expected that a large number of people will attend this function. Being in campaign mode, this will be an important programme in Nimad – Malwa region covering 61 Assembly segments. I request you to consider attending this function which shall be called as Samvidhan Bachao – Desh Bachao. I consider your participation in this programme important.”
Subash death anniversary will be observed on June 26 in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. (ANI)
