Arun Jaitley recovering rapidly says interim Finance Minister Piyush Goyal

The Union minister Arun Jaitley who is currently in the United States for medical treatment, was in good health and recovering rapidly, said interim Finance Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday.

The sources who are familiar with the matter told news agency Reuters this week that Mr Jaitley, who ran the finance ministry, would not be presenting the interim budget on February 1.

In the absence of Mr Jaitley, Mr Goyal has been given the additional charge of the finance ministry. The government has not commented on his medical condition.

Earlier the Congress president Rahul Gandhi in a tweet said that he was upset to hear about the minister’s poor health, he took on Twitter and tweeted: “I’m upset to hear Arun Jaitley Ji is not well. We fight him on a daily basis for his ideas. However, I and the Congress party send him our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery. We are with you and your family 100% during this difficult period Mr Jaitley.”
