Hyderabad, January 07: The college premises was bustling with students from various colleges. Some were busy participating in competitions and the rest, just hanging out with their friends. On one side, there was emcee Sunny entertaining the students with some fun activities and on the other hand, students had fun dancing to the DJs tunes.
The fest witnessed various competitions – ranging from Mock Stock Exchange, wherein students had to make profits in a faux stock exchange environment to Ad-Mad, where students had to create an advertisement for a given product. Edex, media partner for the event, sponsored a number exciting gift hampers and prizes like books, Landmark gift vouchers, personalized Edex mementoes and certificates.
Another highlight of the event were collages- the first floor was lined up with various types, each depicting a social message. “The viewing gallery was very creative and thought provoking. Topics like environmental degradation and terrorism are all around us. But not everyone stops and thinks about it deeply. These collages actually set me thinking,” opined Ferina Bhaidani, a St Francis PG student.
There were various food stalls lined up near the basketball court for students to satiate their hungry bellies. “The food was great and I always love coming to Arthashastra. It is a lot of fun plus I get to meet all my friends from various colleges in one campus,” said Pragna Sastry, an undergraduate student. But all the fun had to come to a premature end due to Telangana-related agitations in the city. All students were asked to leave the campus around 3.30 p.m and the valedictory ceremony was held earlier than scheduled. “The minute I parked my vehicle and was about to enter the college, the gates were shut and everyone else was leaving. I was quite disappointed, since I was really looking forward to attending the fest,” moaned Harshita Agarwal, an alumnus of the college.
