Mumbai, September 04: Arshad Warsi, best known for his portrayal as the lovable goon `Circuit` in `Munnabhai` movies, feels he is typecast in a particular bracket and there is little he can do about it.
“Once a particular character becomes a hit, a slew of similar ones are offered to the actor. I do not have a choice. At times, actors do not really get what they want to do. Most of them are not in a position to pick and choose,” the 43-year-old actor told reporters.
“They have to choose from what is being offered to them and generally it is akin to their image in audience` minds. It is not only me, but many other actors too who face this problem. Hence, I accord more importance to the script and not the genre of the movie,” he said.
“Script is the clincher for me while deciding for a project. Script is the real hero of the movie,” he said.
On sharing screen space with Bollywood veteran Naseeruddin Shah in his upcoming movie `Ishqiyan`, Arshad said he had always admired the veteran actor.
“We share a great chemistry in the movie. Naseeruddin is not one of those actors who makes you feel intimidated because of their seniority. Working with him was a dream come true,” he said.
“I play a weird character. Nevertheless, it is a well-written character,” the actor said.
Arshad, whose repertoire comprises movies like ‘Sehar’ and ‘Golmaal’, said he would like to try his hands at all the departments of film making.
“Film making as such excites me. I would like to be associated with all the aspects related with it,” he said.
Arshad is turning producer with ‘Bola Kaun’ and said he would also take a plunge into direction soon.
“I really liked the script of ‘Bola Kaun’. However, it may be finally released with some other name. Later, if any script appeals me, I would like to direct it,” he said.
Arshad, who had hosted the first season of ‘Big Boss’, says he would not mind to do TV again.
“If I do get something exciting, worth doing, I would definitely do it. But I can not jeopardise my reputation just for money,” he said.
