Arshad Madani hails Jharkhand court verdict in mob lynching case

New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama resident Maulana Arshad Madani welcomed the verdict of a Special Fast Track court in Ramgarh, Jharkhand, which awarded life imprisonment to 11 of the 12 accused persons in a case involving the lynching of a trader from minority community for allegedly transporting meat in his vehicle in June last year, and termed it historic decision.

Maulana Madani said the verdict can serve as the example in other cases. Several Muslims and Dalits became the victim of mob lynching on the basis of false rumours. But unfortunately, the other victims could not get justice so far. He cited the killings of Junaid, Pehlu Khan and Afrazul who were brutally killed by the mobs.

Maulana Madani said that Jharkhand court verdict has proved that justice prevails.

The 11 accused persons identified as Santosh Singh, Deepak Mishra, Vicky Saw, Sikandar Ram, Uttam Ram, Vikram Prasad, Raju Kumar, Rohit Thakur, Chottu Verma, Kapil Thakur and a local BJP leader Nityanand Mahto were accused of lynching a meat trader Alimuddin Ansari alias Asgar Ali at Bazartand locality in Ramgarh on June 29, 2017.
