Arshad Ayub elected president of HCA

Hyderabad, August 23: Former Indian cricketer Arshad Ayub has been declared elected president of the prestigious Hyderabad Cricket Association when elections were held here on Sunday.

Sivalal Yadav however held his grip on the association by getting elected as the vice president. Apart from him, Venkata Reddy and Venkatapathy Raju were also elected as Vice Presidents. Chalapathi was elected Secretary, Venkateswaran Secretary and Naresh Sarma treasurer.

Parliament Member Mr. V Hanumanta Rao has cast his vote in the election. Talking to the media, he said that he only came to cast his vote and clarified that he did not belong to any group. The polling officers permitted members of the Association to cast their votes only after checking their identity cards.

Kasani Gnaneswar, who contested as Vice President had earlier alleged that the HCA had indulged in large scale irregularities in the purchase of computers and other equipment.

The meeting of the HCA was reported to have concluded amidst pandemonium. Some of the members are reported to have alleged that the contestants had given gold worth Rs. 2 lakh to members. An uproar was created and heated discussions followed in the meeting, reports said.
