Kolkata: Trinamool Congress leader Naren Chakraborty, arrested for trying to board a Chennai-bound flight with an unlicensed gun, was today remanded to a day’s police custody by a court in Barrackpore near here.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Barrackpore Mayukh Mukherjee remanded Chakraborty to police custody after he was produced in the court today amid tight security.
Chakraborty, a member of the Durgapur Zilla Parishad and Pandabeshwar Block Trinamool Congress president, was initially detained by Central Industrial Security Force and later on arrested by the police for trying to board a Chennai-bound flight with an unlicensed gun and cartridges from the NSCB International Airport, yesterday.
