Hyderabad: Govt. of Telangana issued a G.O. yesterday waiving Rs. 457.75 crore arrears of water bills of poor families. Mr. M.G. Gopal, Special Chief Secretary, Dept. of Municipal administration issued these orders. According to him, Rs. 299.52 crore arrears along with Rs. 158.18 crore interest have to be recovered from the poor families residing in slum areas.
Govt. of Telangana has decided to waive these bills up to 30th November, 2015. These orders will benefit 68261 residents of slum areas, 8563 residents of Rajiv Gruhakalpa and 235644 domestic consumers. Govt. has decided to wave water bills along with interest. All these consumers have to pay their water bills regularly from 1st December 2015. MD of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has been given instructions to implement these orders.
