Arrears of scholarships and fees reimbursement scheme amounts released

Govt. of Telangana which is facing criticism of the students for not issuing that amounts pertaining to scholarships and fees reimbursement schemes has now released Rs. 466 crore. The arrears pertain to SCs, STs and BCs. For the past two years Govt. had to pay Rs. 1589 crore out of which it has released Rs. 466 crore and Rs. 50 lakh. However it has to release Rs. 1000 crore more. Students’ organizations have been agitating on this issue. They even made an attempt to protest near CM’s camp office. It is reported that Mr. KCR issued orders to release the arrears immediately.

Govt. had to pay Rs. 175 crore towards the arrears for Minorities out of which Rs. 75 crore were released but so far this amount has not been credited into the accounts of the Department of Minorities Welfare.

Govt. announced FAST Scheme for the students but no guidelines have been issued so far. It has therefore not possible for the officials to implement this scheme. Mr. Jogu Ramanna, Minister for BCs Welfare convened a meeting of the higher officials of the department and reviewed the implementation of fees reimbursement and scholarship schemes. He instructed the officials to spend the entire amounts allocated for these schemes in the budget before the end of this financial year.
