Hyderabad : Mr. Abid Rasool Khan, Chairman of Minorities Commission told that after receiving complaints last year about the inadequate facilities for the Muslim prisoners during Ramazan, representation was made to the Govt. The commission had inspected the prisons and had submitted proposals to jail officials through the Govt.
On enquiry about the implementation of these recommendations, DG of prisons informed that arrangements are being made for providing food for Saher and Iftar. Representations of various voluntary organizations for providing fruits to the prisoners are also being accepted. At present there are 424 Muslim prisoners in Cherlapally jail and 200 in Chanchalguda jail. Arrangements are also being made to provide food and other facilities to the 100 Muslim women prisoners.
Mr. Khan told that if any relative of the prisoners wants to meet them on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitar, jail officials will provide this facility.
