Arrangements over for Haj pilgrims: Minister

Hyderabad, October 19: Andhra Pradesh Minority Welfare Minister Mohd Ahmadullah today said all arrangements have been completed for smooth passage of Haj pilgrims from the state capital to Madina.

Addressing a press conference after holding a review meeting with the Haj committee at the Haj house here, he said the pilgrimage would start from October 21 and the first batch of 417 pilgrims from the state will fly off to Madina on October 23 night.

He said the vaccination for all the pilgrims were going on in full swing and will be completed in a couple of days. A permanent shed has been set up for the stay of the Pilgrims at the Haj House, where round the clock medical facilities would also be provided.

He said the last flight from the state capital will leave on November 6 and in all, 6406 pilgrims will proceed to Madina this year.

The minister, who came here yesterday after a week-long stay in Saudi Arabia, said he was satisfied with the arrangements made for the pilgrims in Madina at Saudi Arabia and had discussions with the authorities, including the Counsel General in India, and they assured to provide all assistance to the pilgrims.

All India Majlis-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President and MP Asaduddin Owaisi would provide kit bags to 510 pilgrims from Kurnool and 264 from Mahbubnagar, who were badly affected by the recent floods.

The kit bags, containing clothes, medicines, food items and some important utensils, would be supplied by the party free of cost to pilgrims from the two districts.
